Abstract

Contessa Caterina della Ratta was the second wife of Andrea Matteo III Acquaviva (1456-1528). The sculpture of her kneeling, hands clasped in prayer, mirrors the sculpture of her husband situated nearby. Both sculptures are set before the elaborate funerary monument commissioned by Andrea Matteo III for his parents, Giulio Antonio Acquaviva and Caterina Orsini del Balzo.
