Abstract
The objectives of these lessons are for students to explore and develop historical inquiry skills when studying conflicts within Canada that will permeate into continuous evaluation and inquiry into current day events and conflicts in Canada. The focus is on skill building rather than memorization of facts therefore, it is pertinent that students be encouraged to ask questions and pursue answers on their own. The use of primary sources are to engage and help students act as historians and do history. These lessons explore conflicts between French and English Canada such as the Conscription crisis and Regulation 17 but also conflicts between other members of Canadian society including the rise labour unions and constitutional crisis’. Students will largely be assessed on their ability to portray the habits of a historian via primary sources analysis and other exercises connected to the historical concepts.
