Baptismal Font

Abstract

In the Ruffo Chapel, to the right as you enter San Lorenzo in Damaso in Rome, is a late seventeenth century, early eighteenth-century polychrome marble baptismal font. It is mostly made from blue, white, and gilded marble. It was donated to the church in 1706 by Cardinal Ottoboni (1667–1740). The front of the basin contains a marble relief of The Baptism of Christ.
