Saint Peter

Abstract

This wooden sculpture of Saint Peter was originally located in the church of Saint Michele Arcangelo in Acquavella. It is currently displayed in the Museo Diocesano of Lucania. Peter is shown holding an open book, one of his many attributes. The saint is dressed in a red dress and gold mantle and looks outwardly to the viewer. The sculpture is not in good condition; damage from wood-burrowing insects is found on the figure’s face, neck, book, and parts of his robe.
