Coffered Ceiling

Abstract

Created between 1580 and 1583, this coffered ceiling in the church of San Gregorio Armeno in Naples was created by Nunzio Ferraro. Nunzio Ferraro was a renowned woodworker known for creating a variety of objects, including wooden choirs, wardrobes, counters, candlesticks, and other liturgical items. The coffered ceiling depicts flying angels, putti heads, and grotesques. The figures are painted and gilded, which was done by other artists who worked alongside Nunzio.
