St. Roche

Abstract

This painted wood statue of St. Roche, created in the eighteenth century, is housed in the Sanctuary of Santa Cristina in Bolsena. Roche, as is typical, is shown with the dog who brings him bread and pointing to a plague sore on his leg. He carries a pilgrim's staff and wears shell-shaped pilgrim's badges.
