Madonna and Child (Madonna del Rosario)

Abstract

This sculpture, made in the eighteenth century and housed in the Museo Diocesano in Ferentino, was made to be dressed in fabric clothing. There may not even be a fully sculpted body underneath the clothes -- perhaps just painted wood head, neck and hands for Mary and then a metal armature beneath the clothes.
