Moving Industry Up: Examining the Potential for Intensification of New & Cultural Industries In Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant Industrial District

Abstract

This research examines the land use and space needs of businesses operating in a light industrial district in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. More specifically, this study compares the potential for new and cultural industries to operate in multi-story buildings and buildings that mix office and industrial uses. This research involved distributing a survey to businesses in order to determine which types of industries have a greater potential to operate in higher density and mixed-use buildings.
