Crucifix

Abstract

In the Chapel of the Crucifix in the left aisle of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme in Rome is a polychrome wood crucifix dated to the middle of the fifteenth century and attributed in church signage to the circle of Donatello. Christ is high on the cross with his eyes closed and mouth parted open. Rich painted red streams of blood exit from Christ’s hands, feet, crown, and chest.
