Abstract

The curriculum at the School of Medicine, Queen's University was changed in 1991 to present information to students by a "systems' approach: cardiovascular system, urogenital system, etc. A number of disciplines were grouped under one umbrella because their content was to be offered throughout the four years of the complete undergraduate medical curriculum. History of Medicine, Law, Ethics, Geriatrics, Information Literacy, Family Medicine, are only a few of the disciplines taught, over the last 15 years, in the Medicine in Society (MIS) curriculum. Opportunities for collaboration, successful integration strategies, as well as new content and the relevance of MIS in the training of furture physicians will be presented.
